Four surimono

Edo period, 19th century


each a woodblock print, surimono, privately issued; with collector's seal of Gerhard Pulverer to verso, and comprising:


- Young boy on veranda with pestle and mortar, the silhouette of a woman through the shoji, signed Utamasa ga (Pictured by Utamasa)

- Stencilled paper card case, embellished with metallic pigment and embossing, signed to lower right Utamasa shoga (Pictured and inscribed by Utamasa); with collector's seal of Charles Haviland to verso

- First pail of water drawn at the New Year, embellished with embossing, signed Utamasa ga (Pictured by Utamasa); with collector's seal of Hayashi Tadamasa

- Young woman on a veranda (engawa) washing her hair in a basin, embellished with metallic pigment and embossing, unsigned; with collector's seal of Hayashi Tadamasa, further seal of Charles Haviland to verso
