Keisai Eisen (1790-1848)
Four prints from the series Famous Scenic Spots in the Mountains of Nikko (Nikkosan meisho no uchi)
Edo period, 19th century
each a woodblock print, from the series Famous Scenic Spots in the Mountains of Nikko (Nikkosan meisho no uchi), signed Keisai Eisen sha (Drawn by Keisai Eisen), censor’s seal Watari (Watanabe Shoemon), published by Yamamotoya Heikichi (Eikyudo), circa 1843-47; each with collector's seal of Gerhard Pulverer to verso, and comprising:
- The Falling Mist Waterfall, One of the Three Waterfalls (Kirifuri no taki, santaki no sono ikkei)
- The Hanging Cloth Falls at Jakko Shrine (Jakko Nunobiki no taki)
- The Kegon Falls, One of the Three Waterfalls (Kegon no taki, santaki no sono ikkei)
- The White Noodle Falls (Somen no taki)
Each vertical oban:

From a set of five prints. The series was perhaps inspired by Hokusai's A Tour of Waterfalls in Various Provinces (Shokoku taki meguri), published by Nishimuraya Yohachi approximately fifteen years prior.
Other impressions of each print are in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, accession numbers 11.41530, 11.23152, 11.23155 and 11.41531.
