The present A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1, reference 101.032, unites a warm rose gold case with a silver dial, creating a elegant variant of the brand’s most iconic design. The rose gold hands and applied hour markers harmonize beautifully with the case, while the same precious metal frames the signature outsized date. Adding a note of opulence, the watch is fitted with a detachable Wellendorff rose gold bracelet — exceptionally supple and refined, it wears with the smoothness of silk.
Produced from 1998, this example represents the early generation of the Lange 1, powered by the calibre L901.0. This hand-wound movement traces its gear-train lineage to the Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 822, a design personally selected by Günter Blümlein during Lange’s renaissance. Its visual and technical merits are equally compelling: chamfered edges, crisp interior angles, and finely grained surfaces are all hand-finished to the highest Saxon standards. A hand-engraved balance cock, the signature of Lange’s artisans, provides a final touch of artistry — visible through the sapphire crystal case back.
