A precursor to the Reference 6239, the Reference 6238 was produced from the early 1960s until 1967 and is popularly referred to amongst collectors as the ‘Pre-Daytona.’ The model is distinguished as the last Rolex chronograph made with a smooth polished bezel and with the tachometer scale on the dial.
This Pre-Daytona is offered with a signature sunburst silvered dial, known in the sale catalogues as "cadran soleil argent".
