A year before the iconic Royal Oak made waves in the watch world, Audemars Piguet introduced another timepiece with a fully integrated bracelet—one that made a significant impact.
Designed by the legendary Gérald Genta, it was aptly named the ‘Cobra’ due to its mesh-like bracelet, crafted from white and yellow gold, which mimics the scales of a slithering serpent. With a bold dial and a sleek build, thanks to its slim automatic caliber, the watch continues to stand out.
For the first time, this potentially unique watch with a Day-Date complication and phases of the moon is coming to market. The refined diamond-set dial perfectly complements its striking exterior. We admire the deep blue background paired with crisp white printing on the subdials at 3 and 9 o'clock. The twin subdials are reminiscent of the pattern found on a cobra’s hood, and below them, a disc displaying the phases of the moon further enhances its sophisticated design.
In recent years, the Cobra has become a grail for collectors on the cutting edge of watch collecting. This particular example sets itself apart from the standard issue Cobra.
The watch comes to us from an established collector, presenting a fantastic opportunity to add an extraordinarily rare and iconic piece to any serious collection.
