Introduced in 1994 the reference 5004 enjoyed a lengthy production period for 15 years until 2009. Inheriting the well balanced layout of perpetual calendars such as the 3970, the 5004 takes a further step towards complication, adding the split seconds chronograph that allows recording of multiple intervals. The calibre CHR 27-70 Q is Lemania based and finished in the Patek Philippe workshops, stamped with the Geneva seal. Estimated over 1000 examples of the 5004 were produced among all materials, with only 300 pieces in platinum.

The reference 5004 was also known among collectors for its wide range of combinations, including special dials and case materials such as salmon or steel. Appearing like a regular silver dial, upon close inspection one would spot the sub registers for the present watch to be in a slightly different tone, in a deeper grey colour. This is perhaps a gradual, organic change that is due to time. A spectacular find, the present watch is in pristine condition and complete with all accessories.
