In 2001, Harry Winston introduced the Opus Series, headed by Max Büsser, an imaginative venture aimed at redefining the concept of timekeeping. Through collaborations with esteemed independent watchmakers including FP Journe, Felix Baumgartner, Robert Greubel, and Stephen Forsey, each Opus timepiece embodies a journey marked by innovation and partnership, culminating in cutting-edge horology.
Opus X draws inspiration from celestial movements, eschewing conventional fixed dials and watch hands. Instead, time is conveyed through a dynamic arrangement of rotating indicators mounted on a revolving frame. This novel approach presents a technical feat: as the frame completes its rotation, the indicators' dials counter-rotate, ensuring consistent orientation regardless of the watch's position.
Fusing futuristic design with Harry Winston's hallmark technical prowess, Opus X is meticulously crafted using premium materials and the latest advancements in technology. In keeping with the Opus tradition, the collaboration for this timepiece enlisted the expertise of watch engineer Jean-François Mojon, resulting in a groundbreaking achievement that epitomizes the essence of the Opus Series. Mojon has developed his reputation as one of the most highly esteemed Swiss watchmakers renowned for his innovative contributions to haute horology. Born in Switzerland, Mojon demonstrated an early passion for mechanical engineering and timekeeping, which led him to pursue a career in watchmaking. In 2000, Mojon co-founded Chronode SA, an independent watchmaking workshop based in Le Locle, Switzerland, focused on a mission to push the boundaries of traditional watchmaking and introduce innovative concepts to the industry, working with brands including IWC, Czapek, MB&F, and Urban Jürgensen. The current example comes from the original owner and is presented in very good condition with original accessories.
