Launched in 2009, the Zeitwerk features a digital display that pays tribute to the clock of the Dresden Semper Opera House, showcasing a five-minute digital readout. Its time display and movement design are distinctly modern, incorporating a constant force mechanism that ensures a steady flow of energy to power the jumping hour and minute discs.

The Zeitwerk Handwerkskunst ("hand craftsmanship" in German) blends robust masculinity with delicate artistry. With a textured dial, Lange has created a new vision of art and craftsmanship. The white gold dial is hand-engraved using a special burin, resulting in a technique known as “tremblage.” The A. Lange & Söhne logo and power reserve indication are also hand-cut in relief. Engraving a single dial takes an exhaustive two weeks of meticulous handwork. The rhodium-plated "time bridge" that spans the dial contrasts strikingly with the textured silver surface, creating an overall dazzling aesthetic.

The watch is housed in a substantial platinum case, measuring 41.6 mm in diameter, with polished lugs and a brushed central case band. Inside, the Lange caliber L043.4 is finished with a granular surface treatment, and all inscriptions on the movement are hand-engraved, highlighting the significance of this exceptional timepiece.
