When F.P. Journe first introduced the Line Sport to the brand’s offering in 2011, the rather unusual move by the Swiss watchmaker drew quite the attention. Known for his obsession with traditional watchmaking and the history of horology, the launch of a modern, trendy sports watch seemed atypical to François-Paul Journe’s vision for his brand. However, the concept of a F.P. Journe sportswatch stemmed back to one of the watchmaker’s most important collectors who wished for a watch that catered to his active lifestyle, and so a line of lightweight, rugged and durable watches was born, made especially to suit the Japanese collector’s endurance racing endeavors.

In the subsequent years, several new models were added to the Line Sport, until the present model, the Octa Automatique Réserve in rose gold, was launched in 2019. It is equipped with F.P. Journe’s automatic winding mechanism powered by the calibre 1300.3, featuring several practical complications like a five-day power reserve, oversized date, subsidiary seconds, as well as a day and night display. Unlike previous Automatique Réserve models, the present watch does not feature rubber bumpers anymore and displays a more subtle, slate grey guilloché dial, giving it a more luxurious and sophisticated look.
