Launched by François Paul Journe in 2000, the Chronomètre à Résonance received widespread acclaim. At first glance the Résonance may deceive the public as a simple dual time watch. However, on the contrary, it not only has an appealing watch face, but it also has a very exciting and technologically advanced movement. As its name suggests, the Résonance adopts a pair of balance wheels that not only power the two-time zones displayed, but most astonishingly serve together as an exciter and resonator which provides more inertia to the movement and results in greater accuracy of time. The watch draws its inspiration from by Dutch mathematician Christiaan Hygens who circa 1665 observed two pendulum clocks placed on the same wall swinging in perfect duplicity.

Similar to the Tourbillon Souverain released a year earlier in 1999, the Résonance features a 38 mm platinum case and is individually numbered on the case back. The lightly textured silvered dial includes two separate guilloché dials for hours and minutes, allowing for the display of different time zones. At 12 o’clock, there is a 40-hour power reserve indicator, and at 6 o’clock, the signature F.P. Journe inscription, "Invenit et Fecit," meaning "Invented and Made." The watch is powered by the sought after rhodium-plated brass movement.

This timepiece embodies many of the essential aspects that make horology such a captivating field. It carries a rich history and a story behind its creation, featuring a unique aesthetic inspired by some of the world's finest watchmakers, while remaining true to Journe's personal vision. The rare dial is beautifully preserved, is nice and shiny and does not have areas of oxidation like many of the early dials. Inside, largely hidden from view, lies the movement—a mechanical marvel rooted in horological tradition and brought to life by Journe's exceptional skill, style, and finesse. We are delighted to present this watch, which is in overall excellent well preserved condition.
