The Audemars Piguet Reference 26187ST.OO.D801CR.01 was introduced in 2010, and was named after the famous Montauk Highway, also known as State Route 27 (SR 27), that runs the length of Long Island culminating at the historic Montauk Lighthouse on the eastern tip of the island.
The highway traverses through several well-known villages in the Hamptons, such as Bridgehampton, East Hampton, and Amagansett. Its diverse scenery of urban streets and coastal dunes, have been a source of inspiration for artists like Willem de Kooning, and carries historical and artistic significance.
Audemars Piguet sought to capture this coastal spirit of weekend getaways for city dwelling New Yorkers in the Montauk Highway Offshore. The striking color combination of bright turquoise and white on the dial coupled with the brown leather strap recalls crystal blue waters, white sandy beaches, and wooden boats seen along the 100-mile stretch of the route.
