An itomaki no tachi koshirae [sword mount]
Edo – Meiji period, 19th century
the finely powdered nashiji ground, decorated in gold hiramaki-e with chrysanthemum crests (kiku mon), the nanako ground and gilt inlaid fittings all with chrysanthemums, the mokko-gata tachi tsuba with further chrysanthemums on a nanako ground
97 cm., 38½ in. long
Accompanied by a certificate of registration as Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu [Sword Fitting Especially Worthy of Preservation], no.228729 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword], dated Heisei 20 (2008).
