Coley House is an early 19th-century mansion built on the site of an Elizabethan manor house constructed by the Vachell family in the mid-16th century. In the 18th century the estate passed through a series of owners before being acquired by the Monck family in 1810, who resided in the property until 1937. The estate was subsequently developed for residential use by the city of Reading, and the house has been converted to a hospital.
