Similar French-inspired serpentine commodes with comparable marquetry decoration attributed to the St Martin's Lane cabinetmaker John Cobb (c.1715-1778) that have appeared on the market include an example with an oval fruit still-life reserve on the top formerly in the Leverhulme Collection (illustrated Colin Streeter, 'Marquetry Tables from Cobb’s Workshop,' Furniture History X, 1974, plate 29a), and another with related trellis parquetry sold Sotheby's London, 6 December 2023, lot 99.
