Description
Comprising: a necklace of hydrangea blooms in purple gold and cultured pearls, on a bi-coloured trellis decorated with brilliant-cut diamonds, and backchain of cultured pearls, measuring approximately from 8.88 x 8.37 to 8.21 x 8.03mm, necklace detachable, length approximately 410mm; a pair of earclips en suite; ring with similar design, size 7; all mounted in platinum, 18 karat purple and yellow gold.
Purple Gold, a combination of material science and aesthetic ambition, is one of the most difficult precious metals to create. While rose gold acquires its blush from copper and white gold from metals like nickel or palladium, purple gold achieves its colour through a daring and volatile partnership of gold with aluminium. Cierin, in Japan, is a leading pioneer in purple gold jewellery.
