The year of the 29 May frost and La Grande Coulure - the result was a production of 11 hl/hectare, or 160 barrels. New wood was used in this vintage. 12.5% alcohol. In the past, I have found it minty, meaty and complex. In 2007, it was fabulously layered and firing on all cylinders. Tannic and yet sweet. Intoxicating depth and with profound mystery. It is a staggeringly beautiful wine. In 2011 at the Château, a nose of undergrowth, rich leaves and coffee beans. And a fabulous taste of roasted coffee, prunes and raisins. Lovely plummy tastes. Great composition and structure. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
