Description

Château d'Yquem 1986

Sauternes, 1er Grand Cru Classé

u. 3vts, 21ts, 5 bin-soiled labels, 8 oxidized capsules, signs of seepage

In 2023, the nose is all tarry botrytis and then come the apricots. The honied sweetness on the palate is matched by fresh acidity. Luscious and all-enveloping - and superb with all the rich dried fruit of mince pies! There is a terrific aftertaste of barley sugar, contributing to the mega impact of this wine. One sees why the late Jean-Pierre Moueix, a great connoisseur of Yquem, compared it with the 1937. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
