Description
Château Lafite 1990
Pauillac, 1er Cru Classé
Levels bn or into the neck, slightly bin-soiled labels
Cabernet Sauvignon 57%, Merlot 30%, Cabernet Franc 13%. In 2022, violets, heather and cherries on the nose - lift off! Super luscious, super silky on the palate - this is mega opulence twinned with Lafite finesse, breed and then that hedonistic charge for the finish. As it develops in the glass, the black fruit intensifies. I 'got' the wine and the vintage on our 45th wedding anniversary - I must be improving! And, more important, the wine itself could make its century, in true Lafite fashion. To prove the point, in 2025 and from magnum, it is even fresher and gloriously sleek -breathtakingly beautiful.
