Undoubtedly, the Royal Oak stands as Audemars Piguet’s most iconic and commercially successful design since its bold introduction in 1972. What is now considered a timeless classic was, at the time, a groundbreaking innovation, capturing the attention of a new generation drawn to the ideals of modernity and refined sophistication. These same values continue to define the Royal Oak today.
The Ref. 4100 was introduced in the late 1970s and offered in a variety of dial configurations and case metals. Some examples, such as this one, were fitted with quartz movements, while others featured upgraded mechanical calibers developed in the wake of the celebrated Caliber 2121, which was, at the time of its release, the world’s thinnest self-winding movement with a central rotor.
The present example showcases a rich vintage character, with patina and signs of wear that speak to its history as a cherished companion over the years. Freshly serviced by Audemars Piguet in April 2025 to the maison's exacting standards and fitted with a new battery, it presents an excellent opportunity to own a meaningful piece of horological history, one that continues to embody the spirit of innovation and prestige that defines Audemars Piguet.
