While Rolex is more renowned for their sports and tool watches, the Rolex Cellini collection presents a side to Rolex far from the mainstream. The Cellini collection was first introduced by Rolex in the 1960s, with the name "Cellini" paying tribute to the renowned Italian Renaissance artist and goldsmith, Benvenuto Cellini. The name was chosen to reflect the high-quality craftsmanship and design of the brand’s timepieces. Since the inception of the Cellini collection, the watches were designed to be dressier, timeless staples in a gentleman’s wardrobe, and a counterpart to their sportier, purpose-built cousins.
The Rolex Reference 50535 is an elegant addition to the Cellini collection that features a moon phase complication. Taking inspiration from the classic dress watches such as the Rolex References 6062 and 8171, the Cellini Reference 50535 reinterprets classic design principles and distills them in a watch that is timeless in design. The blue enameled moon phase disk is further decorated by a piece of Gibeon meteorite for the full moon, a literal nod to the skies.
Cased in 18k pink gold, the watch is as luxurious as it is refined, and it is powered by the Rolex self winding calibre 3195, fitted with an anti-magnetic Parachrom spiral and beating at 28800 vph with a 48 hour power reserve.
