Originally introduced during the Second World War, the Rolex Air-King is the sole survivor of the brand’s early “Air Series,” a group of models created with pilots in mind. The reference 5500, launched in 1958, adopted the calibre 1520 and established the classic 34 mm case proportions that would define the line for decades. This reference became the foundation for the longest-running generation of Air-King watches and remains an important chapter in the model’s evolution.
This example comes in 'new old stock' condition which is a rare treat for a model of this vintage.
