The Patek Philippe reference 2540 holds an important place in the manufacture’s history as its first square automatic wristwatch, powered by the calibre 12-600, the same movement introduced in Patek’s first automatic model, the reference 2526. Produced from 1954 to 1960, the watch features a case designed by Ponti Gennari & Cie, defined by its crisp square profile and faceted lugs. With its refined geometry and subtle architectural presence, the reference 2540 draws inspiration from the Art Deco tradition and remains one of Patek Philippe’s most elegant mid-century creations.
