The Rolex Reference 16520, also known as the Zenith Daytona by collectors, derives its name from the Zenith movement utilized in the watch, and holds the title of being the first automatic movement cased in the Daytona model. The Zenith caliber 4030 was the last outsourced movement supplied to Rolex for their chronograph range and Rolex's subsequent transition into in-house movements makes the Zenith Daytona extremely sought after by Rolex collectors.
As a horology brand known for the vertical integration of their supply chains and in-house production, Daytonas housing Zenith movements represent a slice of both Rolex and horological history when there were different suppliers who specialized in each component of a timepiece.
