Since its founding in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1955, Corum has established its position as a horology brand devoted to boldness and creativity as their design principles.
The 1980s saw a period of great innovation with the introduction of the Golden Bridge collection that married horology and avant-gard design. The design was the brainchild of self-taught watchmaker Vincent Calabrese and was produced in very small quantities. The Golden Bridge was the first to incorporate the now famous vertical, bridge-shaped movement that can be admired through the transparent sapphire crystal case. The success of the collection led to the development and introduction of the Ti-Bridge collection in 2009, which housed Corum’s second in-house movement: the caliber CO 007.
The present example perfectly exemplifies the Golden Bridge collection, its meticulously hand-engraved vertical movement — a technological marvel — encased in two pieces of clear sapphire crystal. The location of the back winder allows the linear silhouette of the watch to be uninterrupted, giving the movement centerstage. Accompanied by its original leather case, the present timepiece is an excellent example of the iconic collection.
