In the words of Jacob Arabo, “My clients were always traveling, and they loved that I put diamonds on bezels. And they dressed in so many colors back then, they needed a watch that would go with their outfits.” Perhaps no watch harkens back to the early aughts than Jacob & Co.’s Five Time Zone. The design was inspired by a dual time-zone watch Mr. Arabo had received as a child, and its success came from a brilliant marketing campaign and the effect of celebrities wearing the watches in public. They were fun, irreverent, and they re-imaged the watch as a status symbol.
