Given the case back engravings, the original owner is presumed to be Dr. O. B. Kent. Dr. Kent was born in Meriden, Connecticut, in 1890. He was the second person in the United States to be awarded a doctor's degree with poultry as the major study when he graduated from Cornell University in 1917. Dr. Kent served as Instructor in Polutry Husbandry at Cornell from 1913 to 1917, becoming Assistant Professor in 1917, and Professor in 1920. He joined the Quaker Oats Company as Poultry Specialist in 1922, becoming Poultry and Livestock Specialist in 1940, and Director of Feed Research in 1946. In 1914, the Quaker Oats Company established a research farm in Libertyville, Illinois, the town engraved on the case back sleeve of this watch, where Dr. Kent made his home to be close to his research. Dr. Kent died on October 2, 1956, at his summer home in Geneva, Switzerland – a hint to his love of watches such as this Patek Philippe.
