Level into the neck, label partially detached, slightly torn, very slightly nicked at top edge and very slightly scuffed at bottom edge, capsule slightly worn on top, more recent capsule and cork indicate that this bottle has been reconditioned at the château; Niveau dans le goulot, étiquette partiellement décollée, légèrement déchirée, très légèrement entaillé sur le haut et très légèrement éraflée à la base, capsule légèrement usée sur le dessus, capsule et bouchon plus récents indiquent que cette bouteille a été reconditionnée au château

A hot, dry summer and small crop. 13.6% alcohol. This was one of the great wines of a Cheval Blanc tasting in 2007 and, for me, it rivals the 1949 - stylistically so different, but both intrinsically wonderful. Deep roasted cloves nose. Incredible meaty/sweet taste. Tremendous texture and flesh. Marvellous thick wine, as Cheval Blanc always is from a hot vintage, and yet so juicy. Total depth and gravitas. Then, at the Château in 2011, a great nose of the skins of fruit. Great class and breed. Pain grillé and black fruit. This has immense impact right from the beginning. Extraordinary strength, richness and lushness. Fantastic fruit. Perfect composition. Such perfection - this has everything. The sweetness of greatness! Serena Sutcliffe, MW
