Description
The clasp of geometric design set with old European-cut diamonds, accented by triangular diamonds, on a later added four-row cultured pearl bracelet with diamond-set spacers.
This bracelet belonged to descendants of Clement Clarke Moore (1779–1863), the distinguished scholar, philanthropist, and author of A Visit from Saint Nicholas ('The Night Before Christmas'). He inherited the 18th-century Chelsea estate in Manhattan and was instrumental in its development into the neighborhood now known as Chelsea, New York. Born and later residing on the estate, Moore oversaw its subdivision and transformation into a prominent residential and commercial district.
By descent within the family, the present bracelet was inherited by current owner's aunt following the death of her husband and entered the family through the Pulitzer lineage.
