The Constellation du Lion ring is featured in the 2012 catalogue of Chanel Joaillerie's Collection titled '1932'.

Constellation du Lion

The ‘Constellation du Lion’ ring is part of a collection launched by Chanel Joaillerie in 2012 as an homage to the first line of diamond jewellery designed by Coco Chanel in 1932. At the time, Mademoiselle Chanel had created a collection featuring diamond-set stars, articulated fringes, ribbons and feathers. All these motifs were reinterpreted by Chanel Joaillerie in 2012 and have remained part of the brand’s vocabulary ever since. However, an entirely new design was introduced with the lion. The feline pays homage to Chanel’s zodiac sign Leo as she was born on 19 August 1883. Furthermore, the lion is also the emblem of Venice, one of Chanel’s favourite cities. Thus the star and lion motifs found on this ring refer to important aspects of Chanel’s heritage: they are both a nod to the personality of its legendary founder, as well as to her highly influential 1932 jewellery collection that forms the spiritual basis of Chanel Joaillerie today.
