Description

Audrey Hepburn's Hubert de Givenchy Haute Couture Pink Silk-Crêpe Sheath, Autumn-Winter 1966-67, wrapping around the body with fastening to right shoulder, with interior corset, labeled and numbered 33665, bust: 32in, 81cm, 86cm, waist: 23in, 59cm

Audrey gifted this gown to her life-long friend Tanja Star-Busmann. Tanja fondly recalled one of the first occasions Audrey gifted her clothes as she prepared to depart to New York to star in the Broadway production of 'Gigi' in 1951: 'Audrey revised her wardrobe for the trip and gave me some clothes she no longer needed, and this became something of a fabulous tradition!'. Ex-lot 325, The Tanja Star-Busmann Collection, Kerry Taylor Auctions, London, 8th December 2009.

Audrey Hepburn is photographed in Vogue wearing a variation of this gown, October 1966, shot by William Klein. Vogue describes the dress as: 'A loose, languorous Givenchy spiral of pale pink crêpe falling to an uneven hemline from a strapless top tied on one side'.
