Description

formed as a thatched roof house with a fruiting tree climbing up one side, in front a recumbent dog and a working peasant, another side with barrels and a cogwheel pen rest in front of a young child peeping out of the window, the front of the house with a young lady, the base with underglaze blue factory mark

height 17.5 cm; 17 in.

A version of this design was made by other factories in the second half of the nineteenth century, but this version by Popov exhibits both fine modeling and the wide range of colors made in the factory's glaze laboratory.
