of cartouche form, the lid inset with a later agate cameo carved with Venus and Actaeon turning into a stag with five female attendants to the left, framed by a border of an intricate interlacing of scrolls, garlands and rose diamond strips, the baluster sides chased with flower garlands and bold scrolls around scale-patterned cartouches, the base formed of a banded agate panel, English prestige marks including maker's mark IF, later French hibou control marks,
