octagonal with molded rims, engraved with contemporary arms in rococo cartouche, marked on backs with maker’s touch enclosing a crowned Price of Wales Feathers and full name touch in beaded rectangle

The arms are those of Auld impaling another.
A matching plate by Chamberlain engraved with the same arms is in the collection of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (KC 1973-250) see John D. Davis, Pewter at Colonial Williamsburg, 2003.
Thomas Chamberlain had leave to strike his touch in 1734. His trade card gives his address of King Street, corner of Greek Street, St. Ann’s, Soho. His business remained active until 1806, see Howard Cotterell, Old Pewter, its Makers and Marks, 1929, ninth printing 1975, no. 873, p.178.
