Description

painted with four landscape vignettes, one monteith showing a pair waterbirds nesting eggs at the waterside, the verso panel with birds and chicks in woodland, the other monteith with a similar scenes of waterbirds with chicks, and a hen nursing an egg with a cockerel by a rustic fence in woodland, within elaborate gilt foliate scroll cartouches, gilt-dentil rims, one with interlaced LL marks containing date letter M for 1765, painter's mark of a dagger for Étienne Evans, the other with indistinct incised mark to inner edge of footrim, possibly GN
