A pair of cizhou rouletted 'Cizhou' jars and covers, Northern Song Dynasty

It is rare to find a jar of this ancient yet contemporary design retaining its cover, let alone preserved as a pair. Compare a closely related covered jar included in Sō ji meihin ten [Exhibition of Sung ceramics celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Japan Ceramic Society], The Japan Ceramic Society, Tokyo, 1955, cat. no. 123, and sold from the collection of Tsuneichi Inoue in these rooms 13th May 2015, lot 30; and another in the Seattle Art Museum included in Chinese Ceramics.
