Description

Width 5⅝ in., 14.3 cm

Acquired in Singapore, 1st February 1978.

For a related jade camel rendered in a similar style, see one from the Avery Brundage Collection, now in the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco (accession no. B60J869), illustrated in René-Yvon Lefebvre d’Argencé, Chinese Jades in the Avery Brundage Collection, San Francisco, 1977, pl. XXXII. This camel was traditionally believed to be made in the Tang dynasty. It has now been reattributed by the museum to the Qing dynasty.
