Walrus ivory is known as "Qiujiao" in the imperial archive of Qing dynasty. The ivory studio in the palace often dyed it to a jadeite-like colour, imitating the texture of elephant ivory. Compare with a walrus ivory hairpin in the Palace Museum, Taipei, acc. no. guza 004643.
