Though often associated with Minimalism, Agnes Martin inhabited that position with unwavering personal poise rather than as a disciple of doctrinal reduction. In her printmaking as in her painting, she embraced constraints — grids, repetition, and a restrained palette — as a form of inner discipline. “In isolation … the ego finally is quiet enough so that one can pay attention to other parts of the mind. Then drawing is possible,” she remarked.

The present set of four prints continues her disciplined engagement with geometry, tonal subtlety, and contemplative stillness. They embody not only the quiet rigor of her art, but also the courageous inner labor that allowed her to expand the very possibilities of abstraction.
