Description

First separate Aldine edition of the Greek text of the Poetics, with the first complete translation into Latin, by Alessandro de' Pazzi, both of which proved influential on the reception of Aristotle's Poetics.


8vo (154 x 95 mm). Italic and Greek type, 30 lines plus headline. Collation: A-CDα-γδ4: 56 leaves. Woodcut Aldine device on title-page and final verso. 


Binding: Later tan calf (161 x 103 mm), covers ruled in gilt, spine gilt in five compartments with floral design, edges stained red. (Extremities lightly rubbed, a few light stains, upper joint cracked.)
