A blue and white 'lotus' bowl, Mark and Period of Kangxi | 清康熙 青花纏枝蓮紋盌《大清康熙年製》款

The present bowl is a particularly well-rendered example of a classic imperial design from the Kangxi period (1662-1722). Compare a similar bowl of this design preserved in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, illustrated in Blue and White Wares of The Ch'ing Dynasty, vol. I, Hong Kong, 1968, pl. 12; another in the Art Gallery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, gift of the B.Y. Lam Foundation, is illustrated by Peter Y.K.Lam and Cheng Xiaozhong in Qing Imperial Porcelain of the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong Reigns, Hong Kong, 1995, pl. 19.
