Mezcala Stone Figure, Type M18

Late Preclassic, circa 300 - 100 BC

Height: 7 ½ in (19 cm)

Private Collection, Belgium, acquired from the above in 1970

Thence by descent

The figure standing on short legs is distinguished by the sizable head marked by deep, diagonal grooves for the facial features and brows in relief, a characteristic of the M18 type; in green andesite.
