The form of this armchair is inspired by the engravings of the ornamentalists Percier and Fontaine, but the richness of their colour allows us to attribute their manufacture to a Russian craftsman. A set of four armchairs in the same style was sold at Artcurial, Paris, 8 November 2011, lot 231.
