The exceptional quality of the decoration combined with the Royal arms would suggest that this coffeepot was intended for court use. In 1776, long after the closure of Rossetti's porcelain factory, and that of Vische, a third factory was established in Piedmont and was the only one which benefited from the patronage of Vittorio Amedeo III (1726-1796), King of Sardinia. The factory was founded by Giovanni Vittorio Brodel, who had previously worked at Vische, and was located in the fourteenth century castle of Vinovo, six miles north of Turin. Pierre-Antoine Hannong, who had formed the faience factory at Strasbourg, was invited to Turin by Brodel who brought with him technical knowledge however the factory ran into complications and it folded in 1779. From 1780, production was resumed by the chemist Dr. Vittorio Amedeo Gioanetti and continued until 1796 when work was temporarily paused due to the French invasion. A near identical armorial coffeepot, together with an armorial drum-shaped teapot, a sugar bowl and a coffee can and saucer were included in the exhibition La porcellana in Piemonte (1737 - 1825), Le manifatture Rossetti, Vische, Vinovo at the Museo di Arti Decorative Accorsi-Ometto, Turin in 2014-15. The pieces, from the Appendino Collection, later sold at Wannenes, Genoa, 27 March 2025, lot 115.
