FIRST EDITION IN DUTCH of La Croix's general description of the world, which includes the foundation of New Amsterdam (later New York) as well as 15 maps of the Americas, in addition to 21 maps of Europe, 20 of Asia, and 18 of Africa. The views mainly depict European capitals and cities, in addition to panoramas of Constantinople and Mexico City.


"There are copies on thick large paper, with the maps and plates exquisitely executed in colours and gold; very rare in this state" (Sabin 38504). Rare Book Hub lists no other auction records for hand-coloured copies.
