The arms are probably those of the Duke of Cumberland, son of George II. Elizabeth Godfrey advertised on her trade card as "Goldsmith, Silversmith and Jeweler to His Royal Highness the Duke of Cumberland" (Heal, London Goldsmiths pl. XXXIII). An epergne with the Royal arms and with provenance from one of the Duke of Cumberland's great-nephew's was sold Sotheby's, Amsterdam, Netherlands, October 8, 2005, lot 1205.
