The arms are those of Upton impaling Montagu, for John Henry (1771-1846) and his wife Lady Mary Montagu, only daughter of John, 5th Earl Sandwich, who he married in 1796. Educated at Eton, he became a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1803, served as M.P. for Bury St. Edmunds from 1803 to 1812, and was created Viscount Templeton of Templetown in 1806. The Viscountess died in 1824, while her husband survived until 1846, dying at the family seat, Castle Upton, in County Antrim.
