18ct pink gold case, polished hinged case back, olivette for hand-setting beside pendant, calendar adjusters to the band at XI for day/date in tandem, I for month and VI for moon phases, gold polished hinged cuvette signed and numbered Breguet 2381 and with French chimera import assay mark in fitted frame (1838-1893), the assay repeated twice to inner rim

Sold in 1879, this watch was produced during the Brown family’s first decade as the new owners of Breguet. In 1870, Louis-Clément Breguet (1804–1883), the talented watchmaker, physicist, and grandson of Abraham-Louis, oversaw the transfer of Maison Breguet to his workshop manager, Edward Brown. Successive generations of the Brown family would continue to own and manage the firm for the next one hundred years.
