The present work features "Amato," an English thoroughbred brown bay colt bred on Epsom Downs by Sir Gilbert Heathcote in 1835 by "Velocipede" out of "Jane Shore" (bred by His Royal Highness the Duke of York in 1820). The composition circulated widely as an aquatint by C. Hunt, published by S. & J. Fuller, 1838.
