Van Winkle Family Reserve 16 Year Old 90.4 Proof 1968
Distilled on November 21st, 1968, bottled on December 1984 by Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery, Lawrenceburg, KY. bottle #77, ullage: top shoulder, hairline crack quarter of the way down capsule, capsule remains in tact, red wax capsule has very small air bubble, front label scuffed near the top
One of the few domestic releases from Julian Van Winkle III to employ a dripping red-wax seal, something Maker’s Mark claimed as its own, this whiskey was among the first in the Van Winkle series to be bottled at an iconic 16 years of age. Though later releases around the same age came from the Boone distillery, the whiskey inside this bottle is 100 percent sourced from Stitze-Weller.
