Edo period, 17th century
the black lacquered iron three-plate bowl applied in black lacquer in the form of a scallop shell, the ridges of the shell well defined in gold hiramaki-e, black lacquer peak and turn backs, four-tiered gold lacquer neck guard with spaced lacing in dark blue braid, the underside in black lacquer
